An interval-based method for workspace analysis of planar flexure-jointed mechanism

چکیده
This paper addresses the problem of certifying the performance of a precision flexure-base mechanism design with respect to the given constraints. Due to the stringent requirements associated with flexure-based precision mechanisms, it is necessary to be able to evaluate and certify the performance at the design stage, taking into account the possible sources of errors: such as fabrication tolerances and the modeling inaccuracies in flexure joints. An interval-based method is proposed to certify whether various constraints are satisfied for all points within a required workspace. Unlike the finite-element methods that are commonly used today to evaluate a design, where material properties are used for evaluation on point-to-point sampling basis, the proposed technique offers a wide range of versatility in the design criteria to be evaluated and the results are true for all continuous values within the certified range of the workspace. This paper takes a pedagogical approach in presenting the interval-based methodologies and the implementation on a planar 3RRR parallel flexure-based manipulator.

متن کاملInterval Analysis of Controllable Workspace for Cable Robots
Workspace analysis is one of the most important issues in the robotic parallel manipulator design. However, the unidirectional constraint imposed by cables causes this analysis more challenging in the cabledriven redundant parallel manipulators. Controllable workspace is one of the general workspace in the cabledriven redundant parallel manipulators due to the dependency on geometry parameter...
متن کاملIdentification and Decoupling Control of Flexure Jointed Hexapods
By exploiting properties of the joint space mass-inertia matrix of flexure jointed hexapods, a new decoupling method is proposed. The new decoupling method, through a static input-output mapping, transforms the highly coupled 6 input 6 output dynamics into 6 independent single-input single-output (SISO) channels. Controls for these SISO channels are far simpler than their multiple-input multipl...

This paper presents the dynamic modeling and design of micro motion compliant parallel mechanism with flexible intermediate links and rigid moving platform. Modeling of mechanism is described with closed kinematic loops and the dynamic equations are derived using Lagrange multipliers and Kane’s methods. Euler-Bernoulli beam theory is considered for modeling the intermediate flexible link. Based...
